Five wealthy doctors (each in the middle of a moral/workplace crisis) all go on vacation together. They are stalked, killed, and stung by bees. A lot of people like to say this movie is good, or even a "Canadian version of Deliverance." These people are fucking worthless piles of shit. The movie does everything it can to disengage the audience, and let’s not overlook the fact ....

RITUALS (1977)
THE FAN (1981)
Yet another book from the 70s made into a misguided movie. Lauren Bacall stars as a really famous old actress who is being stalked by a deranged fan. Released only a few months after John Lennon was shot, I suppose America considered The Fan in poor taste. It was merely a coincidence, but still, it probably didn't help. It also doesn't help that The Fan isn't all ....
ALONE IN THE DARK (1982)
Looking at the box for Alone In The Dark you may think, "Wow, look at all these semi-famous people in this movie: Palance, Landau, Pleasence." It could lead you to think the movie is actually really good. But that's not the case here. A bunch of crazies escape an asylum during a blackout and seek revenge on a doctor and his family. Suffers from a little too ....
AMERICAN NIGHTMARE (1983)
This plot reads like a knock-off version of Hardcore (one of the hallmarks over here at The Betamax Rundown): Girl disappears into some type of seedy prostitution/porno deal, family member goes after her. But it has none of what made the aforementioned film awesome. In fact it lacks just about anything that would make it memorable. I know what you are saying: Early 80s, porno, strip clubs, killing ....
DEFIANCE (1979)
Yet another entry into the Death Wish, First Blood, Walking Tall loner-revenge genre of filmmaking. This time Jerry Bruckheimer produces, and the always stellar Jan Michael Vincent stars as the loner crime fighter who takes on the "Savage Souls" who look like they came from the "Beat It" music video. John Flynn directs but doesn't get sensational like he did in Rolling Thunder. Almost more of a ....
FIGHTING BACK (1982)
Fighting Back is yet another revenge genre film that drapes itself in the guise of being a little more community-oriented. Our hero, played by Tom Skerritt, doesn't go off half-cocked and take on a gang (or at least not at first). Rather, he takes efforts to start a community organization complete with storefront and logo. It's like Ghostbusters, but with real people. They even have embroidered ....
DEATH VALLEY (1982)
Peter Billingsley (pre-A Christmas Story) tries to lead this mystery/slasher movie. He and his mom and step-dad go out to the desert for vacation. They are stalked by an ominous car and sheriff Wilford Brimley keeps finding random bodies. Eventually we learn the killer is a waiter at a restaurant. I think this film was made for kids whose mothers had just gotten remarried as the ....
THE LIBERATION OF L.B. JONES (1969)
The Liberation of L. B. Jones is a very confusing movie for a few reasons. It was an exploitation/blaxploitation movie a few years ahead of its time, it was filmed on what are obviously Hollywood sets in a very Hollywood environment. As a result it missed the mark. Should be right up there with In The Heat of The Night, but unfortunately is all but totally forgotten. ....
