DEATHDREAM (1974)

Bob Clark directed war/zombie film. Soldier returns from war as a mindless zombie who must kill in order to stay alive. He proceeds to alienate his family and kill people. Notable for being one of Tom Savinis first jobs and has some good gore and effects. Also stars John Marley as an awesome angry dad/drunk. Well done overall with just the right amount of cheese ....

CITY OF THE WALKING DEAD (1980)

There's a town, and within that town is some type of radiation leak that only affects a single plane in the air. When the plane lands zombies covered in ground beef emerge. Terror follows. Well done Italio-horror by veteran Umberto Lenzi. Although extremely dated and foreign, it's still good zombie entertainment. It has good special effects, a good enough story, acting, camera work, plenty of gore, boobs ....

PERFECT STRANGERS (1984)

Scrawny Mob hitman stabs a man in alley. Small boy witnesses crime. Hitman then stalks boy so that there are no witnesses, but then he falls in love with mother. Then other Mob hitmen try to kill hitman and boy. Ridiculous movie directed by Larry Cohen (It's Alive, God Told Me To) that suffers from a stupid plot and way too much 1980's stuff. Lots ....

EYE OF THE TIGER (1986)

Gary Busey starring 'Nam vet revenge flick directed by the guy that did Vanishing Point. Falls victim to many 80s revenge flick clichés, but still manages to be a bit enjoyable. Confusingly uses "Eye of The Tiger" by Survivor as a theme song. Busey as a recently released inmate and father who takes on a crack dealing biker gang, Seymour Cassel, Yaphet Kotto, shitty script, shitty music, formerly good ....

TORNADO (1983)

Yet another Italian 'Nam flick directed by Antonio Margheriti who was one of those directors who churned out a million fucking Italian movies in the 80s. One of his last 'Nam movies, Tornado contains many of the explosions and stuff that were all leftover from the superior The Last Hunter. Typical story line about corrupt Captain and well liked Sgt. Maggio as they struggle for control of a platoon. ....

AMERICAN COMMANDOS (1986)

Quote from the box, "All the fiery action of RAMBO ... all the vengeance of DEATH WISH," thentotally remove the moral compass, personal struggle and plot elements of those and you get this movie. Sure the second half of the movie makes no reference to the first half of the movie. And of course there's gapping plot holes. This is everything that's good about B-grade, or even ....

ROLLING THUNDER (1977)

Written by Paul Schrader shortly after the success of Taxi Driver, but suffered extensive rewrites by the studio without his permission. Vietnam Vet has trouble with thugs who kill his family and seeks revenge. Walks the fine line between exploitation and actual good movie. No matter how off-kilter the movie goes, it is still highly regarded among B-movie aficionados and fucking dorks. ....

HEAT (1986)

Burt Reynolds stars as a las Vegas based 'Nam Vet tough guy body guard. A good script can't be saved from 1980s over-directing and yakkity sax solos. Has several hilarious fight sequences. The fact that Burt was desperately trying not to age and well past his prime didn't help either. Luckily there is plenty of Vegas scenery that is actually awesome to make up for it. Burt ....
