DEFIANCE (1979)

Yet another entry into the Death Wish, First Blood, Walking Tall loner-revenge genre of filmmaking. This time Jerry Bruckheimer produces, and the always stellar Jan Michael Vincent stars as the loner crime fighter who takes on the "Savage Souls" who look like they came from the "Beat It" music video. John Flynn directs but doesn't get sensational like he did in Rolling Thunder. Almost more of a ....

THE LIBERATION OF L.B. JONES (1969)

The Liberation of L. B. Jones is a very confusing movie for a few reasons. It was an exploitation/blaxploitation movie a few years ahead of its time, it was filmed on what are obviously Hollywood sets in a very Hollywood environment. As a result it missed the mark. Should be right up there with In The Heat of The Night, but unfortunately is all but totally forgotten. ....

TESTAMENT (1983)

One of the best post-apocalyptic films around, Testamentwas lauded for its realistic, non-sensational view of life after the bomb drops. Depressing scene after depressing scene were used to traumatize children in classrooms all throughout the 80s and you'll no doubt remember at least parts of this movie from its many cable airings. Young Kevin Costner, Lucas Haas and even William Devane are along for this tasteful yet totally ....

SAVAGE WEEKEND (1980)

Originally filmed in 1976 as The Killer Behind The Mask, but never officially released until 1981 when the slasher craze was in full swing. It's certainly not a straight slasher film by any means considering the killing doesn't start until the last 20 minutes. Instead, you get 30-something yuppies talking about life, who just happen to get killed at the end. Very well done though and ....

AMERICAN COMMANDOS (1986)

Quote from the box, "All the fiery action of RAMBO ... all the vengeance of DEATH WISH," thentotally remove the moral compass, personal struggle and plot elements of those and you get this movie. Sure the second half of the movie makes no reference to the first half of the movie. And of course there's gapping plot holes. This is everything that's good about B-grade, or even ....

CRUISIN’ HIGH / CAT MURKIL & THE SILKS (1976)

Super fucking awesome mid-70s gang exploitation film that was marketed under a few different titles. Lots of fucking awesome scene with tons of chicks and dudes cruising each other in fucking awesome 70s cars. Gang members do things like steal car radios, beer, chips, and cigarettes, and go to a flophouse for a "party." I can't say enough good stuff about this flick. Seriously great and pretty over the ....
